Super Mario Clouds (2002)
October 24th, 2010
Hacked NES cartridge by Cory Arcangel.
Arcangel used an original Super Mario cartridge and hacked it so that everything but the clouds was removed.
What I find especially interesting about this piece is that it pisses some many off, and sends them ranting down the “that’s not real art!” lane. I suppose Arcangel is (deliberately?) fueling this by saying pretentious stuff like “[---] what do these pixelated clouds represent? It represents the whole progression of humans, communication and technology. [---]”
